96 Accord LX cooling fan stays on after engine bay is detailed.
Hey guys my brother picked up a 96 accord and the engine was a tad dirty. The car itself runs smooth and has no known issues. The fan worked fine before it was sprayed with degreaser and pressure washer.
I sprayed some engine degreaser in the bay and then followed it up with a pressure washer to the engine bay. After we finished spraying the bay we started the car and let it run to dry up settled water around the engine bay.
Once we took the key out of the car the fan turned on. I just thought that it was just cooling itself, however after 30 minutes the fan was still on. The only way that I was able to turn off the fan was to unplug it. Currently the fan is out of comission.
Anyone know what I can do to fix this problem? I don't want the cooling fan to be on for hours and drain the battery.

Check that thermo b - green two wire connector where the upper hose connects to the engine is clean and dry.
We'll assume the cooling system is full and no air trapped.

I don't work on Accords so this is a bit new to me.
The t-stat housing (lower hose) has thermo a. Thermo a only controls the fans when the key is on or engine running.
Thermo b controls the fan when the key is off.....where the upper hose connects.

I have a 2007 Honda civic. Both cooling fan stay on after the engine is shut down. The fans are on low speed and will run till the battery is dead. I unplugged the two thermo switches, one by the thermostat and the other at the bottom of the radiator. Fans still run. Any ideas?
Thanks

Now pull fan relays. Whichever one stops the fans is the fault. The fan timer shouldn't be the issue since it will only turn on the radiator fan. There is a control unit. If the relays aren't the issue it could be the control unit.
