Default GSR swap running terrible

So my car was running alright and i decided to do an oil change and make the switch to full synthetic. I decided to go with 5W20 valvoline full synthetic. Now the car is boggy and slow and runs like crap. Overall when it goes to engage Vtec it bucks hard and wont go anywhere. I feel like it has something to do with maybe not building enough oil pressure but i cant seem to find any information on this. I figure it has to be the oil because it ran ok before hand. Also running a stock honda oil filter. Im going to see about getting a pressure tester to check it out. Also no check engine light.

So the oil doesnt appear to be the problem. Went to walmart and got castrol gtx 5W30 conventional and did another change. I used an OEM honda filter, is it possible the guy at honda gave me the wrong filter i was under the impression that all honda filters were the same but it was much smaller than the filter i previously had. Again no check engine light, good fuel pressure etc. The car ran fine 3 days ago.

You didn't hit anything else while you were changing the oil, did you? That's a weird thing to happen just because you changed the oil. Unless something really unfortunate happened. It's probably just an electrical bug that you'll find soon. Usually boggy and slow means tps.

i've checked the tps a bunch of times and its fine. .5-4.5 all the way through. It bucks hard at like 5000 rpms and vtec engages but there is no power at all. i could barely make it up my hill today.

Check your cap and rotors and sparkplug.

Always good to start with the easy things.

You may want to do a compression test just to make sure you didn't some how lose a piston ring. But it would be smoking if that was the problem.

A loss of power over an oil change is weird. There had to be something that happened. Have you checked your motor grounds? I've seen that make cars run terribly.

Yeah I plan on doing a compression check just have to go pickup the tester. As for smoke none at all, and the car idles perfectly. I'll check the grounds today but I really doubt it's a faulty ground. It almost feels as of the car is clogged up somewhere. I've heard cheap cats can shatter and cause a blockage so I'm also gonna check that today. I just put a new rebuilt distributer on less than a month ago as well.

For checking the cat, just use a laser thermometer. It should be hotter after the cat.

I have seen grounds cause bogging and issues that seem like a bad TPS. But it will idle normally. There is actually a guy on this forum in the past week that had a bad valve cover ground that was causing his car to bog.
