ap1 vs ap2 suspension and specs question
besides the engine. whats the difference in the ap1 02-03 vs the ap2 04-05? i heard that the suspension is more forgiving in terms of track racing. could it be that it is more expensive suspension or is it a certain change in the geometry in where the suspension is placed? supposedly the ap2 my04-05 has a tendency to have a toe in suspension which helps the back stay in place as opposed to the ap1 my00-01-02-03 having unintentional drifting problems and eventually wrecked rear ends. can anyone confirm this? or are the chassis the same and the displacement only changed?
ap2's had a change in the rear to help correct bump steer. there are multiple changes throughout the years for spring and shock settings and roll bar stiffness. not just a difference in ap1 and ap2. off the top of my head id say there are 5 different setups CR included. mainly the ap1 is less forgiving than ap2.
when you start tracking the s2000, and you get the point your are driving on the edge. you definetely need to be careful as in general the s2k gets twitchy and a lot of times gives no driver feedback before it goes into an slide/oversteer condition.
typically if your capable of achieving the point of driving the s2k that well. you are seasoned enough of a driver to understand what the car is doing and what is giving you and not giving you. which ultimately will determine your setup changes and driver correction changes.

im not a dbw throttle fan. so basically its just more expensive suspension on an ap1 chassis? just different settings? they can just be switched out right?
All parts are completely interchangeable, except the rear control arms.
The Rear subframe was upgraded in 04, but other than that its mainly spring changes and sway bar stiffness changes.

Thank you for the big help. I've heard mixed answers but never got verification until I got 3 sources. Thanks a bunch
Here's a blow by blow with every option. For the future I googled "s2000 model year changes"
