Oil pan leaking at bolts
So recently I replaced my oil pan and the gasket but I've noticed that there's 2-3 bolts that oil seems to be seeping through because the heads on the bolts have oil on them. Everything is torqued down to spec and i really don't wanna try tightening the bolts more. Has anyone ever had this happen? It sucks with the colder weather coming an I can smell a slight oil burning smell when I come to a stop through the cents when I have the heat on.
is this an OEM or at least a Felpro gasket? the ONLY spots you need to use Honda bond are at the seeming for the Rear main seal cover and oil pump. There is a sequence in which the pan needs to be torqued, if u just tighten bolts in whatever order, it will leak.
I used permatex sealant on the specified locations an the bolts were tightened in a criss cross pattern as specified. I seem to have a slight leak on the 2 bolts right above the y pipe but none of the other 20+ bolts seem to be leaking. It's a felpro gasket not oem.
once u have the 4 corner nuts finger tight, start at the middle back and use a short 3/8 ratchet and slightly snug up each bolt in a counter clock-wise rotation. just barely snug them up each time, you will have to go around the pan and do this 3-4 times until they are all tight. the gasket should not squeeze out from between the pan and block.
This is specified in the OEM Helms manual.
