Random heat spike?

Icon2 Random heat spike?

i was sitting at a light today and my car just started to get hot. i started to pull over and as soon i started accelerating the needle went back to the middle. its happend two other times before. what do u think it could be?

Next time the heat begins to spike the fans should be on, if not turn the AC on as this will command the secondary fan to come on.

my ac doesnt work only hot air comes out.

Even if the A/C is no longer charged, or the blend door is stuck the secondary AC fan on the radiator should kick on when the AC is turned on. If not then there may be something wrong with the cooling fan(s) circuit(s).

You need to idle your car and watch to make sure both fans are working before the car overheats. If they don't come on then your fan switch is probably bad. This is just a preliminary guess.

Mike, the fans should only come on when the compressor cycles on.

Mike, just me - plus the OP doesn't give the year - but if the charge is low then the AC pressure switch will prevent both fans from running.
