I have a 96 integra with 1.8 engine. Coolant got into crankcase and now that that is fixed, I have a strange growling noise that seems to be coming from oil pan area. Hard to pinpoint exactly where the noise is. The noise sounds kinda like gravel spinning in a barrel (like the old rock polishers). Hoping someone could give me clue as to what to look for when I open it up. It defintely doesn't sound like a rod or crank knock. Is there some component more likely to fail in there more than others? thanks in advance for any and all help.

 

unless your oil lick up is sucking oil that isn't there? maybe its bent or you don't have enough oil in it?

 

Check the pulleys and accessories, a/c power steering etc

 

have enough oil for sure

 

pulled belts already to isolate noise. it stayed the same. does oil pump come out the front and not fron dropping pan?
