Default FS: Very nice 91 Civic DX hatch with b16 swap

**SOLD**

The time has come to sell my 91 Civic hatch. I love the little car, but I'm relocating to Seattle, and really need the extra cash more than I'll need the car. I've had it for almost a year, bought from a member on EF-honda. Here's his original post, from when I bought it.

'91 DX hatchback, 100% rustfree, honest-to-God original paint except front bumper cover and stoneshield and a very old 'spot' repair on RF fender front tip (this is coming from a fussy old painter....I 'know'.....) It's got some small dings, chips, etc, but it's 20 years old. All modifications/updates done within last 7 months and less than 500 miles. There's no cheap-*** eBay parts here....it's all good quality aftermarket or OEM Honda/Acura stuff.

Engine: '90-91 JDM Civic/CRX SiR B-16A; (not an Integra motor...) purchased from HMO. 100% stock with exception of DC 4-2-1 header. Prior to installation timing belt, tensioner, (OEM Acura) water pump, cam seals, rear main seal, pan gasket, and valve cover gasket were replaced. I also installed 4 rebuilt/flow tested injectors, NGK iridium plugs, NGK wires, and an OEM cap and rotor, adjusted valves, etc. etc. Hasport "street" billet mounts.

Transmission: Y1 with factory 4.26:1 LSD (Civic/CRX SiR), new (OEM) synchros and seals, and an Acura LS 5th gear. Goes like hell in the first four, 2750 rpm at 55 mph in fifth. Combined with the 4.26 final drive, fifth gear is actually higher than a stock USDM Si. New Exedy clutch assembly, pilot and throwout bearing, and an 8# Exedy steel flywheel. Hasport shift linkage and axles, B & M stainless short-throw shifter.

Exhaust: DC sports 4-2-1 header (with O2 bungs welded in the correct locations for the early B16), Thermal Research "Classic" stainless 2.25 exhaust, no cat (stainless 'test' pipe). No obnoxious 'fart can' noise....just a nice mellow growl until you hit VTEC....then it sounds like God's Own Crotch Rocket.

Suspension/Brakes: Front: EX spindles w/ "big" brakes, new calipers, rotors, ceramic pads. Polyurethane bushings, new (OEM Honda) wheel bearings, new (OEM Honda) upper control arms & ball joints. Stock DX sway bar. Koni 'Yellow' adjustable struts, Ground Control coilovers w/350# springs and GC extended strut hats. Rear: Scarebird caliper brackets, new calipers, rotors, ceramic pads, emergency brake cables and wheel bearings. ASR subframe brace, ST adjustable rear sway bar, Koni 'Yellow' adjustable struts, Ground Control coilovers, 350# springs and GC extended strut hats.

Other crap: 15/16" EX master cylinder (new), Integra proportioning valve, Hasport A/C bracket (air works....still R-12!), custom-built aluminum radiator, JDM SiR airbox & intake tube w/ K&N filter element. New Integra throttle cable. New Integra clutch cable. Energy Suspension poly bushings front and rear. Koenig 'Rewind' 15x7, 42mm offset rims w/205/50 Dunlop Direzzas (they stick like a bitch...). Russell braided stainless brake lines F&R. Rear fender lips (correctly) rolled for clearance.....and probably a whole bunch of other **** I'm forgetting....

Car has Si cluster w/ tach, factory radio block-off plate, and just plain gorgeous Si front and rear seats. Recent windshield replacement, everything works, drives great, handles like a bitch, and goes like hell. Everything is wired up & hooked up correctly...it's as clean a swap as you will see. Nuthin' fancy...just looks clean and OEM. NOTHING....is cobbled. I'm a fussy old bastard. I'd have absolutely no concerns whatsoever about driving this car ANYWHERE. Jump in it and go....

In terms what I spent building it, the asking price is about what I have in pieces....you're getting the car for free..... Selling....because my stepdaughter needs $$ for her final year of college one hell of a lot worse than I need this thing for a toy, so I'm not interested in any trades, etc. Have receipts for most of the bits and pieces. All intelligent questions will be answered....don't waste my time and I won't waste yours.

Ok. I'll lower the price just one time. $6000. Not to be hardcore or anything, but that's firm. Really, really firm.

Car is located in Central Lower Michigan, and can be viewed by appointment.

I can send high-resolution versions of the pics if desired.

Thanks!

The car has been great for me the whole time I've owned it. Garage kept 100% of the time. Its extremely fun, and responsive. I've also gotten a high of 38.6mpg thanks to the longer LS 5th gear. It has been driven in the winter, but only since I've had it, and again, its garage kept. The previous owner kept it inside of a heated shop, and thats where I picked it up from. I've kept good care of it, and took it thru undercarriage washes regularly in the winter.

The only things I've changed on the car are as follows:

"JDM" amber corners (I've still got the OEM's)

LED headlights. Not just for show, these are actually a single 22 watt LED and they're bright enough for night time driving. I didn't want a "blue" color, just OEM hid color, so they're a nice crisp white. In one of my pics I've got the LED's on, as well as the regular high beams. You can see the color difference pretty easily. Here's a link http://www.vleds.com/bulb/9000-serie...eadlights.html

The last thing I did was buy a set of summer wheels for the car. So for the summer I have a set of 15x8 +40 (+35 with spacer needed to fit) full polished Rota Slipstreams. I put the original Dunlop tires the car came with, onto the Rotas. Originally bought the 15x8's with the intention of running 225/50/15's when it came time for me to buy tires.

The Konig Rewinds the car came with, now have nearly brand new Continental snow tires. Also pictured below.

So in total, I've just changed the corner lights, headlights, added a set of snow tires, and another set of wheels.

The only issues worth noting are since its an OBD0 car, one of the 02 sensors had to be relocated onto the header primary instead of underneath the car, and sometimes it throws a code. But not all the time. The only other issue is it seems like it may need a new main relay. After the car has been in the heat for a while, the relay doesn't like to click on right away. I may even put a new one in before I sell the car. Other than that, its a 91 Civic dx with a motor swap, its got a few creaks and rattles, nothing out of the ordinary for a swapped honda with stiff mounts.

I'm really gonna be sad to let go of the little car, its been such a joy to drive. I paid the previous owners $6000 asking price, and its been worth it. This car is very impressive in how clean it is. The interior has a couple blemishes, probably in better shape than 98% of 91 Civic interiors that haven't been re-done. I'm asking $5500 for everything. I'd really like to sell everything to one person, so at this time, I don't want to sell wheels/tires separately. This car really is very nice, and worth every penny, so please no lowballers.

Thanks for looking! Here's some pictures I took today after I washed it.

Never know what may happen? If it's still available then, I'd gladly sell it to ya.
