Default Why change trannies

don't tell me to do a search

when you do ls/vtec why would you need to swap the ls tranny for a gsr.
(i know its because the gsr has shorter gear ratios)

But why would you need that when you're hitting vtec at high rpms.

maybe i answered my own question.
Is it because you get more torque out of the engine?

i dont think u need to put a gsr tranny in, but as u said the gsr has closer spaced gears. that will keep u in the upper rpm range where the engine makes the most power and stays in vtec.

Compared to the LS tranny, the gsr has closer gearing so you can stay in the power band. Also the LS trannies long gears were not designed for performance. It is very good for economy though.
