Default immobilizer question

I am sure this has been asked before but here goes 2003 accord we replaced the battery as it failed load test and would not start now immobilizer on how do I get around this or do I have to tow it to a dealer to have it reset. And yes the key is the same as when the battery went dead any help would be great.

Thanks

Are you sure it's the immobilizer? Sometimes low voltage will fry electronic modules, including the ECM/PCM (computer). Looks like a trip to the dealer/mechanic. I would try to find an independent mechanic that works on only Hondas as they're cheaper but, electrical troubleshooting is hideously expensive any way you go about it.

my brother is a service manager of a shop with over forty years experience
he is telling me that is the problem all his scanners and diagnostic equipment will not let him in to it to reset it he thinks it my have to go to dealer as it may be software only a dealer can access. But some cars you can by doing certain steps to get a work around.

About the only things that won't let you access are a short/open in the disgnostic port circuit or a fried ECM/PCM. Take it to the dealer.

Also, usually the only way to bypass an immobilizer is with the factory scan tool.

I could be confusing gen's here but there is a by-pass that will at least allow you to drive the car to the dealer. There is a code you can enter using the e-brake.

If you don't have the code, call Honda America and get the code and the procedure.

I would re-check the connections on the battery - be sure both are clean and tight. There are a couple of fuses in the underhood and underdash panels to check.

Can you tell us what the green key light is doing? Key in - what happens. Remove key, insert key and turn switch to "on" - not start just to "on".
