Ok so I was driving home from putting gas in my car.it is a 97 civic coupe vtec. When I was driving my check engine light came on and off rapidly, making that clicking noise it does very rapidly also. it he sound came from the glovebox. Well this also shut my car off too, so I coasted into a driveway shut off my car and turned it back on. It idled for about 2 seconds and that spastic check enginelight came on, and made my ebrake and battery symbol flicker a little too. The clicking was still coming from the gearbox. my car shut off again. so I come back about 25 min later and try to start it and it works perfectly. I let it idle for 10 min and turned it off and started it right back up. I did the same thing but let it idle for 20 min and then drove home without a problem. Could you guys tell me what may be wrong before I send it in to a mechanic?

Ah. guy who owned it before me put in a new OBD1 ecu if that means anything. Is the relay worth fixing or should I just get a new one?

 

You just get a new relay. Fixing a relay is just cost-ineffective. Pop it in and you are good to go.
