Default How to build a boom box for my car????

Can somebody direct me to a site where I can learn how to build a boom box for my car that includes woofers, and amp? I just want to learn and try to make one for my car. I want to know how to connect the amp to where and speaker to what, and etc. Thanks.

alright, first it depends on what kinda car u have, and what kinda money u have.
do u have any favourite brands out there?
do you want deep boomy bass, or loud tight bass?

what I'd suggest going with for a first setup is an aftermarked cd player, a nice set of aftermarket speakers for the front and rear(powered off the HU) and maybe two 10" or 12" subwoofers.
although if you have the money, you can put components(woofer and tweeter) in the front and run them off an amp aswell.

u need to give some more info on what u want.
and for wiring an amp, +(positive) will go to a wire coming from your battery(size of wire depends on how much power yor amp needs, I have 4 guage in mine), -(ground) will connect to another wire probably the same guage as your power andbolt it onto the floor or somewhere in your trunk), remote is just a 12V signal wire that'll connect to your cd player, so that when your cd player turns on, so does your amp. the RCA's will also go to your head unit, you should have 1 red one(right channel) and 1 black one(left channel) for each amp. then you just run the speaker wire from the output on the amp to your subs

since boxes have already been answered (i'd suggest a sealed or low tuned ported for your first box), i wanted to mention that upgrading your deck BEFORE speakers (or amp if not deck) will give you more clarity even on your stock speakers plus less distortion at a higher volume level...

look for box building on google...but its basically, pick sub, find out how much volume of air it requires for certain type of box, cut out box, screw, glue and silicone...polyfill 50% or so depending on sub and your done..

Hooking your stuff up:

first off make sure you are running your rca wires away from the power and remote wires. This means, other side of car etc. The reason for this is to reduce signal noise.

RCAS
On the back of your deck (assuming non stock) you should have RCA outputs for your subs, connect and run, if you have two sets (front/rear) connect them to the rear. If your rca cable has a thin wire run along with the rca pairs, ground it at the deck.

Remote Wire
The remote wire will turn on your amp when your deck is on, there should be a wire for this located right at the deck, if not, it may be labelled power ant.

Fuses and Power Wire
You need to run the wire through the firewall to the battery to get the proper amount of current to your amp, you would'nt want to supply it with the small stock wiring made for the radio would you?

Connect wire to battery, cut it within 12"-14" of battery terminal (safety!) and run it straight to the back.

There are plugs on the firewall you can pop out on the passanger and drivers side near the kickpanels that you can pass wire through. Just make sure you use grommets, or cut a hole in the plug run it through and replace the plug (remember water can get through this hole and the chaffing of the wire against your chassis could cause it to short!!)

Basically connect these wires to your amp, set your crossover and subsonic filter levels, and your next stage would be adjusting gain. (we'll cross that bridge when you get there..)

Good luck

I did custom installs for 5 years and I always used blaubox. It makes it really easy.
