Noise: How to tell which bearing, clutch release or input shaft?
How can one tell which bearing is failing when the noises sound so similar and have the same characteristics?
Sitting at idle, clutch disengaged: noise
Sitting at idle, clutch engaged: no noise
Driving, clutch disengaged: noise
Driving, clutch engaged: no noise
This is on a 2000 Civic Si. Thanks!

I feel like this question has been asked 10 times in the last day.
if you foot is on the pedal and the noise goes away, it's a bearing inside the transmission. i'm not gonna say input shaft bearing because it could be any of 4 different bearings inside.
