Hello first off my name is Allen and I have a buddys car in my garage that I cant seem to figure out and here are the symptoms.
B16a boosted wont start unless u drift/ "push" start it you can crank and crank on the starter and the starter sounds good doesn't sound "weak" and it wont fire. Just replaced the plugs and wires are good. Wondering if its a ecu and tune issue or a possible injector problem bc it has dsm injectors. No smoke or rough idle once its running.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated
THANKS in advance

But it will crank and turn over while using the key but not start... think it could still be the ignition switch?
The ignition and start circuits are seperate. Because the engine turns over with the key tells you the start circuit is good. There's actually what's called an ignition 1 and ignition 2 circuits in any vehicle I've seen. Ignition 2 only has power when the key is in the on/run position. Ignition 1 has power with the key in the on/run AND start position. The ignition 1 circuit is what supplies power to the distributor.
That you can turn the key to the run position and push start it but not start with the key engaging the starter would lead me to a bad ignition switch.
Test for battery power at the distributors blk/yel wire with the key on, then try crankig with the key to see if power remains or goes away.

no clutch swith I think will cause no crank.
it sounds more like the ignition switch is supplying power to the starter circuit but not the rest of the system. in thebrun position ignition is good.
ill bet you you can turn it to run, and jump the starter solenoid manually and itll fire up

Wait with that low of compression I dont even think push starting it would fire it up and im positive the damn thing would be smoke screening everyone.
Are you sure you did it right? Throttle open, injectors unhooked, distributor unhooked.
