Default Attemping to save a Civic build thread

Hey guys this is my new, very abused, project civic.

I believe i am the 3rd owner but you can never be sure about these things. Anyways the car has been through a huge amount of changes, mostly bad. But to every turd there is a upside. The upside to this turd, is it came with so many extra parts i have no idea what to do with all of it. Exhbit A #Carfullofparts (also doesn't hurt i got it all for 200$ cash)

So lets get down to what i have planned for the car. As of now its to simply get the thing running. The previous owner had let his friend attempt a Dpfi to Mpfi conversion. Long story short, his "attempt" at the conversion turned a potentially running car into a 1800 pound paperweight.
I tried my best to repair his hackjob, but being a Highschool student pummeled by with college apps, and Ap classes, I'm just not having it. Heres what it looks as of (8-27-13)

Here's the good news, Through a member on here xkjnboix (Super great dude to work with, exceptional level of service) I was able to source a full unmolested interior/motor harness for the car for a steal. So that harness should hopefully be arriving within the week that this is posting (9-6-13)

So to really start work on this thing I rolled it into the garage and started to pull the car apart. First i cleared out the Car of all its parts. I ended up pulling out 3 Heads, (twoof them b2,one b7,),5 Intake manifolds, (both carbed/ injectors) 2 spare front bumpers, a Dc sports header with a cut flange, a spare Ek tranny, 2 shift linkages, 3 ecus, and so much other misc **** i cant even start. Its easier just to show hahaha

Well after spending an eternity and a half cleaning the car out of all its ****, Me and a friend(the PO of the car) pulled the motor and tranny.

Then I proceeded to replace the b7 head that was on the block with a b2 head. The B2 head has significantly less miles on it.
Before:
After:

Next thing I did was to crack the tranny from the motor.

Oh I also picked up a minty carpet, hatch cover and some used weathersealing strips for the car, at a very moderate price of 70 dollars.

At this point in time (9-6-13) I'm waiting on parts to arrive. I Have a Xtd Stage 2 clutch kit coming, New o2 sensors, Full set of silicone radiator/heater hoses, spark plugs, The full Harness for the car, a chipped Ecu, axles, Etc,Etc. I'm certainly excited for this project to really take off however and Im more than open to some constructive criticisms and other comments. Ill be updating quite regularly so stay tuned!

looks like it has potential, that's actually a d16y7 head if there's no oiling ports for vtec. at this point you might as well order a re ring kit off ebay and replace all that while you're at it, piece of mind.

Whoa, that's a really nice garage for a kid in high school. Good luck with the civic. It needs to be one color one day.

if you stay dual point no not at all. if you go mpfi you'll have to swap to a pm6 because the pm5 is for the dpfi (two injectors)

I finally got the clutch off after fighting it for 2 hours. Prettyyyy toast. I'm glad i decided to pick up a new one!

Since that was the last thing i could do before i got the clutch in the mail i decided to make a bash plate for my daily, a 99 accord LX lowered on Megan EZ streets, and on xxr527/15

The Bash plate fabrication...

On the car, Not a bad job if i say so myself.

Sorry for the huge file size. Instagram is dumb.

Zoneorgins, if you need a PM6 ECU I have about 4 of them sitting in my CRX right now, or PM9 or PR4, or you could take another PM5 so I can get rid of these things lol. your call though

Thanks! At the moment The tires are stretched quite a bit for poke. They are Continental Pro's 185/50s/15

Quick update to the bash plate i showed off in an earlier post, Bash the front end of it in or Its gunna slide around when you hit something. Shoulda seen it coming but eh, what can you do?

Anyways back to the build. I got some more work done on the motor, Threw a pm3 head on it and got the timing and alternator buttoned up.

Whats this? a box?

Open it up and it's the full Dash/Underdash/motor harness! Now i can finally start work on the hacked wiring on the car. By working on it i mean pull it all out and put in the new one

Im amazed at how many times this pops up, some kid who has never seen a wiring diagram in his life decided to take a perfectly running car to the grave by trying to gain 5HP with a DP>MPFI swap that is leaps and bounds over their head. You kids need to stop killing these cars just cause your buddy told you "MPFI is the ****.."

Thank god your willing to save it though, always gotta respect someone that has the ***** to fix such a hack job.

Breaks my heart to read the first part of this. I destroyed a perfectly functional 89 EF Hatch for the sake of HP. The word 'kid' always ate me up. How old are you? I'm only 21, so I still identify myself as a kid. And I just think inexperience is the cause, not really the age.

Although i agree that it is usually a case of inexperiance, lets keep the thread argument free. It is just a simple build thread haha

Haha. Sorry! It wasn't suppose to be an arguement at all. I'm just not one to profile a group so easily.

Anyways! Keep up the work OP. Need to get this car on the street! How's the weather? Able to work on it regularly?

Itll be tempting for sure! But it has a 500mile break in period like every other clutch so ill have to take it easy.

Just my personal experience here. And I'm not even sure if this clutch is anything like my ACT stage -i dont know- 'racing' clutch. But! Those things feel heavy when you're not use to it. I didn't drive my honda for about 4 months, so I got use to the automatic car I was driving, then I pressed on the clutch in my honda after I finished and it was quite the work out. Compared to what I remember from the stock pedal. I'm sure I'll get use to it! But it's like a whole new car with a different clutch in it.

I love the Ups man. The last piece to the puzzle finally came in! A full Silicon radiator/heater hose kit from GPI Racing.

Threw some hose clamps on and Bam. Now i can actually get to piecing the car back together.

So some bad news. I went to try to put on the clutch today and whatdya know, it doesn't fit. Luckily the buyer i picked this up was very reasonable and agreed to exchange it for the correct one, so i went to the Ups customer care center to ship it off annnnnnd, i got fucked. 22 dollars to ship the box back. I paid 89 for the clutch kit. Well you live and you learn i guess. I should have the new clutch in say another week and a half if all goes well.

After i realized that clutch was a no go, I decided to channel my frustration on my oil caked block and head. A drill with a wire wheel attachment and 20 minutes later it looked like this.

Not bad for a 20 minute job I think.
