Default 98 Civic won't start - engine doesn't crank

First off, i want to say thanks to all of you for helping me.

One minute my civic is running fine and I turned off to get gas and I cannot restart it. All the lights work and function. I'm able to turn my key and the first and second position works fine. The third position would not start my car. It does nothing. I was able to push and pop the clutch to start my car.
  • Battery is good
  • Starter is good
  • Clutch safety switch works. I bypassed it by tying the two wire together.
  • check all the fuses and they look good. I didn't know how to check the box fuse.

I'm at a big lost. Please help.

Thanks,
Duy

Hi, I had a similar issue with my EH9 3 months ago, it was the solenoid. Only for test purposes the mechanic at that moment hit easily with a little hammer that part while trying to crank an then the engine started. Then he had to repair it, I think there are some filaments that get dirty with the usage and need to be polished.

Also I think you should check your sparks plugs, cables and at the end the fuel pump.

Hope, this helps a little.

Thank Trololog. I will look for the cable at the end of the fuel pump. I need find out where it is. I have replace the starter on it and it doesn't work so I don't think it's the starter solenoid.

Thanks teamXteg. I have not done an ignition switch test. Can you tell me how to do that?

Thank you to you both for helping.

pull the plastic switch off the backside of the ignition assembly. look for burn marks, etc. id start there.
