cost of replacing brake lines 91 Accord
I have a 91 Accord and recently thought I had a brake fluid leak. Fortunately, after investigation (checked engine oil and brake fluid level in master cylinder), I realized I did not have a brake fluid leak. I had run over a quart of oil laying on the street on my way home Wednesday night. The can burst and threw oil up under my car. I discovered the evidence on the street the next day.
Anyway, while under the early impression that I had a brake fluid leak, I called a local shop to make an appointment. After realizing the real cause of the mess under the car, I called the shop back, mentioned what I found, and canceled the appointment. The guy at the shop said, "That's good news. We recently replaced brake lines on the two Hondas and the cost (to the customer) was $900. The fuel line needs to be replaced at the same time as the brake lines."
Is the latter point true? Is $900 a typical charge for this? It sounds unbelievable high.

according to online parts dealers it would be about $150 for the lines (hard lines front-to-back) but they are discontinued...
i can't imagine it pays more than 4 hours... so assuming 4 hours at a rate of $80/hr (fair average rate) and a 20% markup on the parts... $500 if i did my math right
i've done the job on a '01 Accord and didn't need to do the fuel line because it wasn't so bad looking.

Thanks. That sounds much closer to what I would guess it might cost.
Any idea why they said the fuel line needs to be replaced at the same time? Are the two joined together to run along the same path from rear to front?

it does run along in the same protective track under the car. i'm guessing in northern climates so often both are rusted about the same, if the brake lines are no-good the fuel line isn't far from failing. just my speculation.
