Default hit the curb... hard

as I was driving home from work, it had just rained, and I cornered a right turn ramp at 20-25 mph like a dumbass. My car ended up skidding, and the left front wheel ended up hitting the curb. The rim has a big dent in it, and the stabilizer on the front left broke apart at the joint. I'm taking it to a mechanic tomorrow. But based on information given, what are the chances I will need a new rim/tire? And is it likely that the stabilizer is the only thing broken? The car can still drive, but the steering wheel tends to go right. I hope to god nothing's wrong with the drive shaft.

Your control arm could be bent, the subframe could be bent, and there could be far more damage then you think you have.

To be honest... no.

I have no idea what all has happened to your car, as I was not there during the accident. Anything and everything connecting the wheel to the car, as well as any subsequent structure, could be bent/damaged.

yea...

So here's the list they gave me for things I need to replace:
rim
control arm
ball joint
stabilizer link
strut (really?)
wheel hub (probably bearing assembly too)

I don't know, if I replace one rim, should I match the other side? I'm planning to dedicate a weekend to do this myself. But I'll talk to the insurance company tomorrow to straighten this out.

If you only hit one side, you only need to replace the damaged wheel (or wheels if two hit the curb).

Your strut could easily be damaged as well, so yeah... I would replace it as well.

I did the exact same thing in the rain on my 2005. You might have slight frame damage (i did). If you can, go get the alignment checked at a body shop to make sure the frame doesn't have to be pulled.

Got a call from my insurance company. I need some quick responses please.

I took a look at the suspension last weekend, and from the looks of it, I only need to replace the control arm, stabilizer link and rim. The hub doesn't look like there's anything wrong with it. Also, from the notes he took, it seems like he only wants to replace the struts because the car has over 100k on it. And my dad says that the struts had already been replaced when we bought the car. Lastly, I replaced the ball joint several months ago, when I replaced the bushings, and it doesn't look bad at all.

So here are my two options: Fix what needs to be fixed, and spend maybe $200 on parts, and a day of my weekend. OR Go with the shop's option of replacing all that stuff mentioned earlier, and spend $1500, 1000 of which is covered by the insurance, and 500 covered by me. The kicker is that my dad is ditching this insurance for a different one, so it's not like our rates are going up because of this.

I'm going to talk to the mechanic that looked at my car to see why they want to do so much work, before I talk to the insurance agent. ADVICE?

Honestly, I wouldn't trust a hub that's slid into a curb... regardless of how it looks.
