2000 Honda Accord EX V6 - No Illumination on Cluster (Multiplexer)
Long time reader here and just now signed up.
Has anyone tried this work around for a bad multiplex unit?
Sorry I couldn't figure out how to embed the video.
I tried it and the wires seemed to heat up and start to smoke. I even used good wire and wire nuts/crimps. If you look at the comments on the video there a lot of people having success with this method over replacing the unit.
Just wanted to get some opinions and ideas on what to do next.
Thanks.

I cut the red wire and spliced a decent gauge copper wire in that went to the harness and to the white/red stripe wire and did the same with the white with red strip wire and spliced them together. Is this the worng way? What do you recommend to hold the connection together? Plain electrical tape without a crimp??
Can you post a pic? I'm not clear as to what you did. The simplest fix would be skin about a 1/4" of each harness wire (about and inch back from the connector plug), skin about 1/2" each end of a jumper wire and wrap those ends around each harness wire. Tape should hold them but I would solder first.
jdowen2,
That is basically what I did. But insted of skinning the wire back, I just cut them and spliced the jumper in. I will post a pick when I get a second.
