Stick with b20b or go gsr?
So i just recently bought a 94 ls shell, and it came with a b20b but no tranny and im guessing clutch. I don't really work on my own car much, so i don't know if the b20 is blown or anything, The person i bought it from said he blew the tranny but to me it seemed kind of shady to me i personally think he blew tge motor and kept tranny -___-, Anyway im guessing because the timing belt is off because i see no belts on the p.s. and i was wondering if i should build the b20v up or buy a gsr from hmo. I want vtec but also reliability. I did a little research and noticed that b20 only last like 1 year. So im stuck in a rut trying to decide what to do? Should i fix up the b20b? Or go straight for the gsr, I might make this my daily so realibily is a important to me, and i like doing things right so i would not cheap out on building the b20v. Any suggestions?
B20V=More TQ GSR=More REV's if you were to just slap the b20v together. B20v's can be reliable look up the "how to build a reliable b20v/LSV" thread it's in the FAQ section up top. since you say you wouldn't cheap out on the B20v I'd say build it properly and skip the gsr depending on what it needs tho...
I had a jdm b20b with a b16 trans in my del sol and LOVED IT. although 1st gear wasn't good for anything besides roasting the tires, even going into 2nd would roast em, but that thing was a monster for being a stock engine. loved the torque, and without vtec it was all go at any speed any gear. if u plan on building it, id stick with the b20
