Default Ridgeline Bluetooth operation

Hi all

I have 09 RTL Ridgeline with nav unit.
I have Android phone.
I have good link established between my phone and Bluetooth module in the vehicle.
I know how to operate Hand Free Link.
I know how to dial numbers stored in HFL memory, aka, "cellular phone book".
When I am driving and someone calls me, BT module duly picks up that call and I can respond, by pressing button on steering wheel.
No problems there.

Here's mu question.

I am driving. It is way faster to grab the phone and touch a quick dial number on the phone, than talk to HFL for turns and turns. Or, I want to dial a number that is on my phone, in contacts, and is not set up in HFL. Whatever.
I WANT TO DIAL A NUMBER ON MY PHONE.

Here's the issue: if I dial ANY number on my phone, even one that is saved in "cellular phone book", Ridgeline Bluetooth connection will NOT pick up that call, and I have to talk on the phone. As in - Bluetooth module ignores any calls, dialed directly on the phone.
Is it supposed to be that way or I need to set something else, so that it picks up such calls? As in my Camry, ANY number dialed on the phone willl go through Bluetooth.
Yes, I read manual. No, I could not find anything in it that will even mention dialing on the phone. They have pages on how to use HFL and all that. Nothing about dialing on the phone.
Please?
