Acura Dealership in Bay Area California...
hey all, my tranny is acting funny. MAJOR grind from 1-2 shift at about 7k on the tach. i have had problems from my tranny for awhile now. i am ready to give up and send the car into the dealership. but i need to know a reputable dealership in the bay area. i went to hopkins in redwood city but they are a bunch of jokers!!! help me out!!!! thanks all for any help.
Screw the Overpriced Acura Dealerships in the Bay Area and go to Honda/Acura Motorsports in Union City. They're in the phone book. The shop is highly reputable and the mechanics all know what they're talking about without all the BS.
Stay away from Stevens Creek Acura in Cupertino!!!
Here's why: My tranny was also giving me problems. For some reason, I couldn't shift it into gear when the engine was between the rpm of 3000-6000. I always either had to shift early or take it close to the red. Anyways, I take my car to Stevens Creek Acura because I've done all my car stuff there ever since I bought my 98 GSR from them - Oil changes, Maintenance, everything. Literally, I was there so much that I created a friendship with the service guys and they knew my car and me very well. To get back to the point, I have them check out my car because of the tranny problem. About 30 minutes later, one of the service guys I knew well comes up to me and says, "Bad news; Your synchros are toast and your tranny is shot. You'll need a new tranny and while we're in there, you should replace the clutch as well. Total - $3400." Of course I was blown away and I didn't know what to say. I was a bit skeptical because of how quick they were to diagnose the problem. I then told him that I'd need some time to think it over. Actually, I wanted a second opinion so I called Honda/Acura Motorsports because a family member referred them. I drop off my car the next morning and at lunch, I get a call. "Well, we found your problem. One of the springs on the clutch popped out. The tranny is fine though." Happy to hear that it was only going to cost $400, I told them to slap in a new clutch. I picked up the car at the end of the day and voila, brand new again.
I was pretty heated because my "so-called friendly Service advisors" tried to pull some shady ****. Ever since then, I've never gone back to that Acura. I even wrote a letter expressing my utter disappointment with their service. They even had the nerve to send me a survey that said, "Hope you enjoyed your experience...blah, blah, blah.." Fugg that, I sent it back with all the worst ratings.
Honda/Acura Motorsports<-----
I even have their phone number on my speed dial - (510) 489-6610...hehehehe

$3400??? You should call the 1-800 number, Acura Customer Service and complain that the service advisor try to pull a quick on you.
The service advisor probably thought you were easy target because they get commission also for every service or repair that goes through them. The higher the amount of repair, the higher the amount of their paycheck.

Yeah...I know. This happened a couple years ago, so I'm over it. But, when I drive by that Acura, I still sneer and grunt...
Anyways, I still remember that conniving service advisor's name - Preston. If you see him , tell him I said " Eat a d*ck"...
Wow...I had no clue that they got commision for having the customer do their requested service.
