Depends on how good you are searching. But expect anywhere from $600-1000

Best thing is going to a junk yard and taking all the parts u need from a manual (pedal, slave, lines, shift linkage, etc) trans of ur choice, and maybe a ecu... not sure if auto ecu would work. U need the auto to manual tranny mount conversion (hasport makes them). I believe u gotta cut and weld some stuff for the slave. I bought the parts and sent the car to the shop for labor. Totaled out $1100ish. Its been awhile.

what are you plans for the car after ? if you just want a manual i'd suggest looking into a new car unless you're going to be DIY the whole thing or unless the car is upper clean.

Im kinda new to all this but would it be better to rid of my '90 DB, which needs body work, and get another, or keep it and convert it to a 5 speed? currently completely stock with B18A1 and 4 speed auto.

^ i'd ditch it and look for a stock 5sp manual you say needs body work also and you say you're new so that's my input. As this isn't really beginner task.

With all the propped tools it should take about 5hrs for your first time. 3 most expensive parts will probably be the transmission and the propped conversion mount and the clutch kit. everything else you can strip off a junk yard car for 300$ tops.

in essence it's a clutch job and then some imo if all you have done prior is change oil or install coilovers/springs i'd look over the DIY for some time 5hrs assuming you run into NO snags. clutch job takes me a day or 2 as I'm on my own/no air tools and I have to fight with rust but I put in 2-3hrs each day tho so if I had the WHOLE day yes 5hrs seems right give or take
