Default painting taillights

Hey guys, I got a 1st gen crv. Looking into painting taillights to get the all red and clear look. Picked up some duplicolor metalcast but not too sure which clear I should pick up. Does anyone have suggestions on what and where to buy? Thanks

Well if you still have the oem tail lights, painting the tail lights with normal paint, will make it none see threw. You need to use VHT paint, as it's tint paint. If you want the red and clear tails, buy them off ebay. If you wanted to go with all red, you can buy red tint paint from VHT, or buy red vinyl film for it (which I sell) for getting the all red look.

I'm curious how this is going to come out...
Just put film over mine so when I want to change it - I can just peel it.

Just curious, did you have to do much wet sanding on those....they look really glossy!

No wet sanding at all. Two light coats of duplicolor metalcast. Then one heavy coat. 10-15 minutes dry time in between each coat. Then waited 30 minutes to apply clear. I didnt use the rustoleum clear. I used duplicolor perfect match gloss. I applied 2 light coats and 2 medium coats. After final coat I let it sit in sun for about 3 hours. Only because it was starting to fog up and having it sit in sun cleared it right up. Then I hit it with compound, polish and then waxed.
