CA San Diego: 1998 Honda Civic EX 5spd Coupe
1998 Civic EX Coupe
VIN: 1HGEJ8142WL069039
PRICE: 2500 or something close to that.
MILEAGE: 222k... I think. I actually have no idea as the cluster was changed by the previous owner with an automatic cluster. The engine was rebuilt, not replaced, at 180k.
PROS: Energy Suspension Full Poly Kit, Centric Rotors w/ Hawk HPS Pads, EBAY Specical WARM Air Intake w/ K&N Filter on it.
Tires replaced this time last year w/ General Altimax. Maybe 10k on them.
Replaced the headliner, Looks awesome except where it got hung up when sliding the sunroof for the 1st after replacing it. See Pic.
Gets 32 mpg.
CONS:
Not original engine. Kid I bought the car from threw a rod through the block and had the engine replaced. I bought the car with a minor oil leak that he couldn't figure out. Ended up getting rod knock and when pulling the connecting rod bearings, they crumbled in my hand. So I had the motor rebuilt. I guess that is a pro.
Not all the Energy Suspension bushings have been installed. Daylight ran out and never got around to installing the rest of them. I have them all and will include them.
EBAY special intake won't pass smog, I think, and the original intake didn't come with the car when I bought it. Bought I did just replace the filter with an AEM/K&N dryflo one. I don't know if that is a pro or not.
Car originally was from TN, then went up to WI from 2009-2012. No structural rust on it, but just wanted to inform that it did see road salt for a while, and it shows.
Car was hit in the front right. Hood and bumper were replaced. I don't know what possessed the body shop to body a fender that they could replace for $30, but they did. Bondo broke off and it showing surface rust under it on fender. I really don't care about the cars looks so I just let it be.
Car was hit in driver rear. Pictures show this.
Paint sucks on this car. Clear is pealing on the hood, fenders, rear bumper.
Headlights were replaced, but it looks like the plastic film is pealing on it.
Bought car with hood latch puller busted. Still can open from inside, but not with oily/greasy fingers.
Tear in the rear seat, see pic.
Aftermarket stereo. Sounds good, but lost keyless entry with it as I didn't receive the OE radio with car.
When engagin/disengaging the clutch it sounds like a squeaky spring.
Chip in the windscreen. It has been there for 4 years. I doubt it is going to get any bigger.
Three holes in dash because some genius decided to mount their GPS on the dash.
EXTRAS: Spare D16Y8 head, don't know if it is good or not. Popped the headgasket about 5k miles ago and tossed on a rebuilt head. Never got the old one checked out.
14 liters of Mobil 1 5w30 and 3 Mann filters, might be less if I do an oil change or not before you pick it up. It only has 3k miles on the oil change. I have been doing 5k oil changes.
Any other honda parts I have laying around.
If you made it this far reading, good job. It is my daily. I bought a Galant VR4 so I could have four doors. I will miss my civic and its gas mileage, GVR4 only gets 19mpg, and would have kept it if it was a 4 door, but it is not so it needs to go. I find it too hard to put a baby in the back seat of a coupe.
