nsx or turbo supra?
STOCK what is more reliable? a friend of mine says a supra is.. and so does others at my job yet I have to disagree.. anyone else got opinions? unbiased of course! lol
When it comes to high-performance cars and overall reliability, the Supra gets my vote. A friend of mine with a sp63 supra boosting 531 rwhp, has had NO problems in the year he's had it. Almost all Supra owners will tell you that they've had no major problems, especially if the car isn't driven by a maniac at WOT all the time. Pretty unbelievable for that kinda power. The 300zx tt is also very reliable as are the ls1's.
I'm not too sure about NSX's reliablity????
And as for my integra's reliability, **** breaks all the time in it, but that's probably because I drive the hell outta it. Oh well, you can't have fun in a car w/o paying the price somehow.

That's a tough choice, you can mod a Supra so cheaply. I've seen a few nice road race Supras and there always very impressive. But they are pretty heavy - what does it matter though when you can get the hp out of it.
BUT an NSX is a great car. I had the choice to buy the NSX or the Supra and I chose the NSX. It handles great and has enough power for me - so far.
There's a quite a few FI vendors out there with turbos or supers starting near 5K. FYI - at the local road course, my NSX consistently gets quicker times than those moded Supras, (Camaros, and Mustangs).
Hey, I didn't answer your question. I haven't had any engine problems with my NSX. If I added a turbo and ran 15lbs. of boost I'm sure I would. You can do that in the Supra. Stock - w/o looking at any kind of records or anything, I'd say the NSX would be more reliable. It's a handmade car built out of the best parts by the best mechanics Honda has.

NSX, Supra is becoming a fairly common platform nowadays,
Nothing turns heads like an NSX.

i would buy.. mm tough decision, i would probably buy a supra.
It's an even better feeling to kick a higher HP car's butt on the track. Especially when it's from the smack talkin' Mustang, Camaro, Vette . . . or even Supra (more likely especially) crowd.
Here's a couple of good evaluations. Just understand that it's coming from the NSX board.

Either way, you're gonna love whichever car you chose. I've considered getting a TT Supra as a daily driver or even better a Lexus SC300 with a turbo install. Talk about a sleeper!

Supra all the way. IMO
Faster stock anyways.

btw How can you beat the exotic look of the NSX? Sure the Supra will also turn heads, but only the NSX will turn heads with pretty blonde curls
Very hard decision. It's quite tempting to know that a Supra can handle ridiculous amounts of horsepower. At the same time, by buying an NSX, you'd be driving arguably the most well-balanced exotic on the market. Flip a coin...

NSX is reliable, but when problems do arise, parts and labor can be very expensive.
Supra is very reliable, but is no comparison to NSX for driving pleasure and sport feeling.
Ive driven both, and the NSX has a true exotic feeling. the supra feels like a big fast boat. the NSX is very connected to you, yet has less upgrade potential than the supra.
NSX isnt a drag race car. Supra is competent drag race car.
IF you really had a preference, reliability wouldnt matter. you shouldnt buy a car based simply on what is more reliable. go out and drive both of them and your chose should be clear whether it be supra or nsx.
both are great cars - dont forget one of them cost $80,000 when new.

Supra all the way........those motors are built from yota........theres about 50 people I know(no exageration) that own supras with big singles and over 100K on stock motor seeing 20 Psi + daily. How do u like that for reliability.
NSX's are still bad *** but they dont hold their resale for sh**. a 93 sup with low miles still goes for 30K. a 93 NSX with low miles goes for about 28K. Big dif considering the NSX base new was alot more.

What are you talking about? 91-93 NSX's cost around 60K new and they go for half of that now. That's a 10-12 year old car that still holds 50% of it's value. Which is better than it's peers.
Granted it doesn't carry the Ferrari nametag but still, 50% of it's original value is pretty damn good.

There ya go bro.......
To defend the NSX, its a gorgeous, but overpriced car. For a new one to cost over 90K is insane......much rather have a porsche.
But the end all be all in this convo is....
To each his/her own.

It's not 93, and plus, it sounds like crap. If you have ever tried to find an NSX for real, you'd know it's extremely hard find well maintained NSX for low price.
As for the Porsche comment, look at this and tell me how NSX is more expensive than 911 carrera which has similar performance #s.

Never said a New 996 Turbo would be the same price as a new NSX. I was stating that if I had enough money to buy the NSX......whats the extra money for the Turbo Porsche. Thats like buying a NSX and not having enough money left over for maintanence of the car.

If I had the choice I would go and buy a NSX. It is the better sports car IMO
280bhp vs 330bhp
1360 kg vs 1700 kg gives a power to weight ratio of 4.86 kg per hp vs 5.15 kg per hp
The NSX ownz the Supra IMO. Power is not all and true races are won on the real track and not on the strip.

STOCK what is more reliable?
In 1996, the NSX was given the J.D. Powers award for the most reliable car after five years of ownership. Not the most reliable sports car - the most reliable car, period. (It tied with the Lexus LS400.)
If you want to debate the Supra vs NSX, there are many different ways to evaluate it. If you want to mod the car and go to the drag strip, get the Supra. If you want to take it out on a road course, get the NSX. The NSX is superior in stock performance, handling, exclusivity, light weight (by ~500 pounds) and reliability. The Supra is less expensive to buy, less expensive to mod, and can be easily modded to much higher horsepower. Take your pick - exotic car or muscle car. Your choice.
BTW, there's a pretty accurate guide to current NSX market values in the NSX FAQ here.
