Wont start - trouble shooting help needed
Hi All! New the forum, hoping I can get some help here.
I have a 90 hatch that currently won't start.
- Upon turn of the key nothing happens, just a single click.
- I do not hear the fuel pump prime when turned to the II position.
Here's what I've done-
- Replaced battery (no luck)
- Replaced Main Relay (no luck)
- Replaced 15a ECU fuse (no luck)
- Ran a wire off the battery and touched it to the starter - the car cranks and cranks but wont start (guessing because it's not getting fuel)
Any thoughts on where to look next? Thanks!

Low chance that youll be able to Visually tell if its bad, It might be burned on the points or connector. but most likely just have to replace and cross your fingers lol
check ALL the grounds, check for ECU codes.
i just half tucked my wiring and i had the same problem and i did the same things come to find out my starter wasnt grounding.
take a set of jumper cables and put it directly onto the starter(any bare surface) and then place the other end onto any place on the car that would be a good ground. if that works then make sure the engine is being grounded out to the chassis(this was my issue).
if its auto try putting it in neutral and trying, if its stick make sure the clutch switch isnt bad.
also, try to just run a wire from battery to the starter signal male connection on the starter, as you were doing.
my last check would be the ignition switch(which can end up being bypassed as all should know). doesnt always look amazing but if you dont have the money to get a new switch and can spare $15 just pick up a push button or a momentary toggle. few of my cars have been ran like this
i would start off at checking your ECU, come back with codes(if any).
