Default P.R.E. Stock sleeve B20VTEC Dyno

Just got back from a dyno session of a motor that I built for a friend of mine. Really simple build with nice parts. Setup has been running on a street tune for 2 years now and he has finally gotten around to getting it strapped down. I want to congratulate him for going through with the build and going/listening to my suggestions on parts selection. I am proud to be a part of another motor build that puts out power!

Setup consists of:
B20 Block
RS ITR Pistons
Stock B20 crank
Stock B20 rods w/ARP Bolts

RLZ GSR Head
Skunk2 Pro VT
Supertech Flat Faced Nitrided Valves
Skunk2 Pro Series Cams
SMSP Header

Here's the graph:

Thanks Uncle Dave. Cams are Pro3s intake and Pro2 exh. Exhaust is full 3" catback.

nicely done! All motor B20! what compression ratio pistons are you running? Is that on pump gas?

Nice work.

Don't know the CR, but I am betting it's relatively low (prolly 11 sometting) according to the current internet standards.

Yeah Rocket the RS Machine pistons are based on the US ITR piston and come in around 3.5cc.slowsleeper its good to see someone else show what different intake to exhaust cam profiles can do

The smaller ex cam "bumps up" or "tricks" the motor into thinking it has more compression without the downside of detonation which most fools are in da nile of.

we're both making the exact 257whp on a 85x89 on 91oct through an exhaust. that just shows that quality companies/parts will always deliver the same/good results (RLZ, Skunk2, SMSP). good work Tou!

The smsp header was it the b19 header, the b20vtec header 1 piece or 2 piece?

is this the reason the edelbrock 4730's perform well considering how much larger the lift is on the intake than exhaust cam?

awesome to see the power being put down on stock b20 sleeves

I did research on those pistons and I found they were 1.3cc domes.

But of course the head used, milling, and HG will make the final CR

Impressive non the less! Im curious on cam setting, timing, and fuel

Great results, really shows what good R&D, expertise and quality parts can do. Congrats!!

What was the VTEC activation RPM?

How does one "trick" a motor?

Side note, Tou, nice work really.

Nikos, can you answer this for me. I don't feel like teaching a course on thermodynamics at the moment.

Was a very simple question.. for someone who's out to help the world, i would think you'd jump at a chance to lay some knowledge on me. Your response actually made you sound a bit like bisimoto there for a second.. but if you dont wanna respond you dont have to, your right.

Your wording was kindof mis leading, But i know what you ment, or at least i think you know what you ment to say.. But i wanted to get a better clear up of it for everyone else.
You can ask Black DC4 my recommendations upon this same exact cam combo, as i recommended it to him a year or so ago. I'm sorry "IMPLIED" knoweldge isn't exactly always noticeable here..

also according to zeal, this compression is around 12.1-12.5?

Yeah, Rocket seems to be full of himself at times.

Anyways, what he means by "trick" the engine into thinking it has more compression actually means: using a smaller duration exhaust lobe so your fresh intake charge isn't going right out the exhaust by over-scavenging therefore increasing potential trapped VE%.
