Default 06 SI CLUTCH!! HELP...please.

Hola folks,
So my clutch is slipping and i need to get it replaced. I already have a new Exedy stage 1 kit. Im just trying to figure out which is the better route to get it installed.

1. Have a shop do it for $550(cheapest I could find and they have a great reputation) Since its my part, they arent liable for the anything, naturally.

2. Do it myself (No experience) with a friend who has some experience with changing clutches in Hondas/Acuras.

I need the car to be up and running soon as its my DD. I've been reading up, studying and researching constantly on this and im feel pretty confident that I could do it with some help. On the flip side of that, I feel a shop could knock it out faster cleaner.

I would like your experienced opinions. Attempt to do it myself and save much needed money, or just take it to a reputable shop and get it done.

^See thats what it seems like too me after all of the studying up ive done. A lot of people make it sound like its brain surgery. It sounds like its just a lot of time, patience and good organizational skills.

My other concern is the Flywheel. Do you happen to know how long it takes to have one resurfaced??

One trick my mechanic told me is to buy another flywheel and have it turned before you even start work on your car, then all you need to do is unbolt things and rebolt them up, no waiting to get parts in or turned.

If you ghave a machine shop nearby you can ask them before you start to get an idea of how much lead time you will need to give them to get it turned and plan accordingly.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you! Ill look into a new flywheel and weigh my options. I like to think that a new flywheel wouldnt cost as much as the labor to install the clutch.

Thanks for all of the feedback! One of my friends recommended a shop so i called and they said they'd install the clutch for $300.00 and resurface the flywheel for $40.00. Since im lazy and lack the proper tools/time to try to do it myself, I took it. Beats the other offers. Dropped it off yesterday morning and picked it up after work. WORKS GREAT! The Stage 1 feels different from the stock, BUT in a good way. Less sloppy feeling.
