Default Best bang for the buck

Im looking for a new set of tires for my car, its a 94 ej1. It is my daily and is autocrossed about once or twice a month. Ive heard that S Drives are a pretty good tire for the type of driving Ill be doing. Any other suggestions? Im trying to stay in the $125 per tire range. Thanks!

I am running Dunlop z1 starspecs on my hatch (weekend warrior and auto-x'ing) they are just as awesome in wet conditions as they are in dry condition. My only complaint is they won't wear out so I can try the new zII's! I was originally looking at s drives myself but since I live in Florida a all season tire was not needed.

They don't make the Dunlop z1 in my size unfortunately! 205 40 17 is what I'm looking for. I believe I'm going with the BFGoodrich G-Force sport comp 2's.

Thanks for the imput though! Your car is looking good by the way, I have been helping a buddy do a GSR swap into a crx. Problem after problem...

Comp2 is hands down stickiest tire availble in your size..... road noise is subjective so you may feel differently than others.....

This is very true. I had them on a set of rims that came off my g35 and put them on my lexus gs300. I never had traction issues with the comp2.
