Default Tein Springs Clunking

So I installed some Tein S-techs on my 03 4wd Element two weekends ago and have been battling this clunking noise in the front ever since. The noise only seems to happen when I turn the steering wheel from lock to lock position when at a stop. If I raise the car up and have the wheels off the ground and do the same lock to lock, the noise is not there.

I have replaced the outer tie rods and sway bar bushings as they looked like they've never been replaced on this 108k car. I also replaced one of the top strut mounts (passenger side) and greased the hell out of the bearings and under the upper perch.

Wanted to confirm that this is the proper way the springs should be? The tighter coils on top?

One thing I noticed was that it doesn't make any noise over bumps or uneven roads; strictly turning the wheel. The compliance bushing and other lower control arm bushing looks good as does the ball join. It almost seems as if the spring is shifting within the strut as I turn the wheel because I've had my fiance turn the wheel and I can feel movement/force when I hold the spring.

Any help will be great. This noise plus the dash rattle is driving me crazy!

Here's a pic since everyone loves pics.
