Icon2 Intake manifold air flow too much?!?

Alright guys I've been running a itr intake manny port matched to a 70 mm tb on a stock b16 stock ecu but straight pipe headers and shortram intake... Motor felt amazing but I seem to forget what it felt like with a stock tb and intake manny set up.. I've read that the b16 are better 90% of the rpms.. The itr manny cracked right under the coolant hose btw.. Fml.
So here's my question. Should I port match my b16 intake manny to 70mm (if possible ) or should I run a stock tb?

Thanks in advance. Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well. I will keep the long block stock.

I've been road raceing for three years and I was wondering what effect it would have on my power curve. If porting would make better power that I could use most of the time while raceing.. Or is it more of a peak power thing? 4.4 tranny btw

You will only find out what gains you get from a modification by dynoing it.

I have a stock P30 Intake Manifold around in great shape if you decide to try one.

try tuning it. you'll get even more power, and your engine will live a lot longer.

I'm just wondering if it will make a better power band for road racing.. 70mm tb with port. To b16 im or stock tb and im

that totally depends on the rpm range you use most often, and the amount of throttle you use most often.

smaller tb's are better for part throttle at all rpms, and full throttle at lower rpms.
larger TB's are better for higher throttle at higher rpms, but give twitchy and inconsistent response at lower rpms and lower throttle and sometimes a slight loss in power at lower rpms..

Cut open and ported P30 manifold will own an ITR P73 manifold all day to 8000rpm and go back to a 68mm TB they work better on B16a engines

what bore is your motor? Depending, I would go with the 70mm throttle, and port your intake. 70mm at the outermost point, and taper the inner side to around 67mm-68mm to create velocity. This will make your motor very responsive, causing air to fill the cylinders faster.

keep us updated.

I second uncle daves statement
A ported p30 with a 68mm tb
Will own an itr mani all day up to 8k rpm.

So I should run a 68 mm instead of my 70mm?

run the 70mm tb, and taper the inner most point to 68mm. to create its own velocity effect. That way if you ever want to bore it bigger you can. its better to take away not enough than too much.

Wasn't that called the "killer bee", the ported P30 manifold? Stock for stock the P30 ***** on the P73 up until around 7,000RPM and then it falls off HARD. Supposedly ported it will maintain where the P73 is up top from 7,000RPM onward.

No idea I have heard something about it but never looked it up I just know from what I have tested and Aaron has tested the ITR is not the best for a small cc engine, longer runners smaller plenum and 68mm TB work very well

I'm wondering if the Performer X would still be a better option? Obviously not cheaper, but judging by how well it does on 1.8L, and it has also been said that it is choice on 1.6L as well.

I just played around with a mates B16a with Toda-C cams and the PerformaX only made more power above 7500rpm over a ported P30 manifold I did but we know with shorter duration cams it the PerformaX should have been better.

here i found a dynosheet
i tested a stock p30 manifold with stock 60mm tb and a blox manifold (itr copy) with 68mm tb
up to 8500 rpm the p30 was way ahead except the small dip around 4000rpm.
testengine a b16 with skunk pro 1s

Yeah Toda Spec C's are only 255/255 duration which is fairly short so it's interesting the P30 still came out on top. One would think it would be a choke point on a modified motor but this proves otherwise!

See the results from Aaron's testing on his Pro-1 cammed B16a P30 manifold worked very well
