On an otherwise stock engine, there is no advantage.

I currently have a pilot(jp) vtec controller with a/f controll and an a/f gauge.. im able to adjust the crossover point and itll work every once in a while... let me explain... I like to ride with the xover up a little so I can get that "pop". Believe it surges with power just all the sudden. But! Itll only do it once. For example. From a dead start or a slow roll thru 1st gear at my set xover bam. My car not having lsd jolts with power and shifts to the left like I just got a hard nudge till redline. Then second gear time... all is good until time for vtec.. it acts like fuel cut kicks in.. no vtec.... no power... all is lost....only way to restore any kind of power is cut off motor and restart. Cant wait for dohc!!

If anyone was wondering.. I have a full cai. Headers. Testpipe. And a fartcan. All stainless...I have checked my oil. Conventional. I have an engine light on. Was on before I installed controller. Its my bank one sensor one and an alternating code for maf and vtec solenoid. I think everyone's best bet is just leave vtec controllers alone on this motor. Not worth the time and headache i've had so far. There is a good recipe for power out there. But believe me this isn't it!

All that means is you're losing power before vtec. It's supposed to be a smooth transition.

That and vtec controllers are worthless hack.
