Default For All B16A owners w/ stock ECU

Without any piggybacking or modification to fuel curve, does ur engine run rich?
I'm getting pretty shitty mileage right now and my at idle there's a pretty big unburnt fuel smell - not sure about when moving though.

I was getting pretty bad mileage and it was running pretty rich. I got an fpr and gauge and it was running pretty high so I turned down the fuel pressure and it began to run stoich to rich once on the VTEC fuel map. Gas mileage improved.

try switching your o2 sensors first.

310-320 miles per tank, wiring is key!

yeah whats that got to do with it. its more like how u drive it. when i got my emissions done they told me it was running rich so i will soon get a VAFC and FPR and dyno it out to fix the probs.

and i did flip the 02 sensor wires around becasue of a nasty hesitation at part throttle. is you drive with that hesitation and get 310 a tank thats good but i wont switch it back around just for gas mileage improvement

when ur going up a hill, and then it sets in the car will feel like it could slow down to 20 mph and u gotta go like 30% more throttle to kick it out of the hesitation

my hesitation was all the time.. unless at WOT..
if your car runs like ****.. change plugs, cap, rotor, wires.. if it still runs like ****.. you need to switch the o2s.

i usually get around 30-31mpg... and that's beatin on it.

when u say switch the o2's are u talking about the actual sensors or the connecting wire (the green and white plugs)

It's best to switch the pinouts going into the ECU. The plugs themselves are different styles and can't be switched without hacking the harness.

:edit: On my stock ECU setup I get about 400-450 km's per tank... roughly 300miles for you 'Murricans And yes, that's occasionally seeing redline.

AS far a mileage goes, I can see the high side of 350 miles to the tank.. and that's at 85 miles an hour. It's highway mileage, but I think it still amazing.

Mines running rich, but getting 30 mpg. How to lean it out? I also had some hesitation at low rpms say getting from 3-5k i would have to hammer down. My throttle cable was way too loose. Tightened that up, ran two bottles of fuel injection cleaner back to back, and the problem has went away!

Just some ideas..hope they help

I get near 400Km on a tank or 230-250 when driving hard.

I had hesitation before. It happens when cruising around 50-60mph.The car was acting like bugging....until I floored up somemore. When I switched the O2 on the ecu,the problem was gone.

The B16 as a tendency from stock to run rich from the factory.I'll prefer rich then lean....how much rich,I dunno.

if your o2's are backwards you'll notice only slight hessitation. my reccomendation is spend 50$ and get 2 new cool parts. there good to have for tuneing too and provide some good information to you. what are they you ask. a air fuel gauge 50$ and a fuel pressure gauge 40$ you can get a better price, i did but can't remember those are ballpark numbers. w/ those tools you'll figure out the prob... check your fuel filter too. could be clogged.

don't switch the o2's at the ecu pins or by actually switching the sensors... You'll just be wasting your time/effort.

You see that there's wires coming from your o2's that go from the sensor to the plug. Take those 2 wires and switch them.. copy/paste or should I say, splice and clip! it's easy, and achieves the same objective.. it should only take you 5 minutes and no tools other than pliers and wire splicer and wire connectors.

edit: btw, after I switched my o2's to their correct position my mileage went from 22 mpg to 31 mpg with city driving. 38mpg on road trips.

autometer air to fuel ratio gauges suck!!! if you want true readings get a greddy air to fuel which shows your ratio ie 12.7:1 or a wideband o2 which is expensive but will give you true readings or a exhaust gas temp (EGT) gauge..... those are the ways to get true readings!!!

I typically get around 230 mile to the tank, thats taking a tank as being 36 litres or until the petrol warning light comes on

I get the same milage as when the dx engine was in. I can drive about 500 highway kms on 3/4 of a tank with the speedometer seeing the occasional 200km/h speed and redline here and there. This is with the y1 tranny though.
I had a wierd hesitation for a few weeks after I did my swap. I tried changing a few things but nothing worked. Then it just got better and better until it was gone. I think there was some build up some where.
