Can I Ask a Dumb NSX Question (2015)?
I'm getting very confused.
Are there two NSX projects underway?
Was the Mid Ohio car the Super NSX (GTR-fighter, R8 Killer) or the Baby NSX?
It looks like there are two big NSX rumors.
The Super NSX R8-Killer is supposed to be some kind of like 550-650 HP twin turbo thing, but there is also supposed to be some kind of Baby NSX that is SH-AWD but just a nice, normal J Motor hybrid with like 350-450 HP?
We're going to eventually get two NSX's? Is that right?
The Mid Ohio car did not sound turbocharged, but they were always careful to keep the engine bay hidden and always check fluid levels under cover, so I just don't know what is going on.

In.
Hadn't realized the possibility of this being the baby. Now that the idea has been mentioned, that car doesn't sound like it's making the power that the grande NSX is rumored to be putting out.
If Acura is secretly attempting two-pronged sports car approach then

Well,
I tuned into a youtube show by the name of wide open throttle.
They had the chief project head or something like that for the nsx project.
He clearly said that, the nsx would not be a big power v8 killer or something like that. It would be the most efficient user of all the technology avaliable. Definately AWD with the two motors up front.
He said something about NSX - standing for new sports car xperimental or something and that the NSX would not rival the GT-R. It would be in a segment of its own.
My 2 cents

The rumor is that there will finally be an R version that is brought to the US and that is the car with the 6lb per hp objective - likely with a twin turbo powerplant.
The standard NSX will have the lower hp threshold.
All of the above is anecdotal and rumor.

Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't version 2.0 going to be assembled in the US? I'd imagine Japanese owners would be wanting to import a USDM NSX-R :D
Don't fight back. Just take the knocks, learn, and move on.
What drew the poster out was that you had expressed yourself in a fashion that was evidently ignorant of certain facts.
It is probably innocent ignorance, and perhaps the person to whom you are responding should have just ignored you, but please don't make it worse by trying to engage in a personal back and forth.
It's not a real fight. It's a virtual fight with no meaning other than the fact that the more experienced posters around you are watching to see what kind of person you really are.
So...basically...don't bother with it and move on.

George Knighton! How the heck are you?
Anyways, I had the pleasure of staying with a Honda R&D engineer who happens to be working on the new NSX when I was out there tuning a couple cars for them for HPD's SCCA program. I grilled him on the new NSX. He was very tight lipped, as you would expect.
Im not going to start any speculation, but I will tell you this:
If you're talking about the NSX that was at Mid Ohio for the Indy car weekend ( I was there you should have come to our rig and said hello), that was an early prototype. The production version is to be a good bit different. Further that prototype had an NA 3.5 L TL variant I believe. The engine platform that will be in the new production NSX was not in that prototype.

I'm afraid that when you say "our" rig, I don't really know whom you mean, but I'd have been happy to stop by and make sure you're thoroughly annoyed.
:-p
Good to see you're alive and doing well!
Really any update on the the nsx? I heard its gonna be electric motor? Tesla motor is electric!! do you see them goin off road, hardcore like the evo x mr..?! No i dont think so.. It is meant for the streets and the tracked.!
I used to always act like they were serious, but I wouldn't spend much time or put much effort into it just in case...and if he's serious or not would surface soon.
I'm not answering him because I am waiting for you and Mase to update me!
I don't know much about this, but I'm watching with interest.
I've poked around the RLX FWD to make sure I fit in it and like the technology, but of course I'm waiting for the AWD version and the new transmission.
If I don't like that, I might have to wait for the TLX...but I also know that it would be getting close to the NSX rolling out at the same time, and it's not beyond all conjecture that the price would be low enough that I would be able to justify a purchase.
At least justify it in my own mind. LOL....
