drilling holes in carbon fiber hood????
im gettin a carbon fiber hood and i want to put hood pins in... how do i drill the holes for the hood pin... i dont wana mess it up... is there any special way or thing u have or should do???
Install the pins first. Then put vaseline on top of the pins so you can mark the holes in the hood. use a dremel to drill (anything slower than a dremel will most likely tear the carbon fiber), also drill from the inside out.

we installed some sparco hood pins in my friend's accord. this is what we did, but there are alot of other methods:
1. find a suitable place for the hood pins. the bolts will be bolted down somewhere on the frame (anywhere on the frame between the two headlights, or near the radiator support) or anywhere that would give nice clearance.
2. line up the bolts to the bottom of the hood. use some vasoline and tip the top of the bolts and slowly lower the hood so that the vasoline on the tips of the bolts touch the underside of the hood.
3. you will be drilling from the bottom of the hood, up. you can either take off the hood and drill, or you can drill with the hood still on the car (it makes it easier to test fit and stuff). make sure you put masking tape on the upperside of the hood on the areas where the drill will come out of (to prevent splintering).
4. drill, drill, and keep test fitting to see if the holes give enough clearance for the bolts. make sure you make the holes nice and clean.
5. now screw in the metal thingies (i dunno what they're called but these are the things that hold the actual pins and rings). after that, you can adjust the height of the bolts so that the pins can pass through them and lock.
hope this wasnt confusing. i sometimes have a hard time explaining stuff through text.
