1993 Coupe EX Tune Up
Good Morning Honda-Tech,
I just recently purchased a 93 civic coupe EX 5 speed manual as a beater for $100. I am in the process of giving it a basic overhaul and tune up.
It needs a Head Gasket, so I ordered a head gasket set along with head studs. I figured while i was in there, I would do the water pump/timing belt kit, plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel filter, air filter, oil change, replace the alternator (going bad).
Is there anything else you guys think would make sense to replace while im in there? Motor has about 220k on it. Radiator was just recently replaced as well. (Coolant leak, which is why im replacing the head gasket)
Thanks!
- Kenny

I would get the complete top end kit from Honda.. but it seems your already planning on spending 4-600$ already have you considered an engine from your local importers . .. grab one from them. You wont have to do anything to it but install it. they are only 3-600 here in canada for complete everything.
yeah, im not looking to replace the entire motor just yet. I want to just get this thing running right for now so it stops leaking coolant and if the motor blows somewhere down the line, ill throw a bigger motor in it for ***** and giggles lol
this is purely a beater car for now, so im not terribly worried
Thanks guys!!

If you're ripping apart the motor to do the top end and timing components, you should go ahead and do the bottom end, too. Bearings, gaskets, rings. Get the motor honed. Rip that sucker out and do a complete rebuild.
