68mm throttle body worth putting on?
I have a 68mm Omni throttle body. Would it be worth putting on my LS with Bolton's?
setup:
b18b1
Act heavy dutty plate and 12lbs flywheel
aem intake
skunk2 intake manifold
dc 4-1 headers
2.25" high flow cat with 2.25" straight piping with a WS2 on it

imo yes, here's why the plenum opening on the s2 intake is 70mm so why not match it with a bigger throttle body. I have s2 ITM with a 70mm w/whale dick with v stack.
sell the DC headers and AEM intake and use your stock factory parts. With the money you get, buy yourself a set of Crower 403 cams. Then you will see and feel a difference.
With all bolt on parts there is a myth that each part will net you more hp.
There are some parts out there that will but the minute you add another you can acutally lose power.
It's been my long standing rule to dyno a car before you put a part on to establish a baseline.
Then add the part/parts and see what changes.
Some parts mannufacturers advertise gains, and their numbers are skewed.
Testing will get you confirmed results, not estimated gains.
For instance... friend bought a cat back exhaust system because everyone on the forum he frequents swore by them.
The company swears you'll get a 20hp bump from just bolting it on. Rigggghhtttt ... LOL
Well the meathead buys it bolts it on and now he swears its much faster than before.
This is what i call "i believe those numbers" syndrome.
I have a friend who owns a shop and he set it up for us to find out just what kind of gain he actually got after hours.
Stock exhaust was 193hp 60tq on the dyno. Down 7hp from the actual rated factory hp.
You should of seen his face..
Next we bolt on the cat back and fire it up.
196hp 57tq
So this 20hp guaranteed gain turned out to be a 3hp gain and he lost tq.
Talk about eating crow... he was angry and speachless at how he got caught up in the hoopla of the bolt on parts.
All he could do is shake his head and thank me.
As of the last time I spoke to him he was packaging up the exhaust to ship it back, and he was scheduling dyno tests at different facilities that have different kinds of dyno's
Then dynapack gave him 193.
He is going to test it on a mustang and a dynajet next.
VW rates their engines at 200hp so he is going to take it back to the dealer when he has the results and see what they will do for them.
Personally I told him notify the dealer but call VW of america and inform them too.
Mazda pulled shady crap like this a few years back with their RX8
Some people were able to get their cars sold back to the manufacturer & some opted for the lifetime free maintenance.
