Icon2 6th Gen suggestions, ie-transmission

I am looking into a nice used accord and have come to like the 6th for the price I can get one for used and the body style. I remember my parents havin one and it was very comfortable compared to the 7th gen that they just traded in.

After doing some research as I noticed several that were for sale having a new transmission or one rebuilt in the car. I'm wanting to stay with a automatic so the lady can drive the car as well and a 4 cylinder for the gas milage. What are some things I should look for to ensure that the car and transmission especially were well maintained while looking and driving the car. Also should I just say forget the 6th gen and find something else? Thanks

The flaw with the '98-02s is there is a valve that regulates ATF pressure and flow, however this tends to jam or overshoot at lower rpms and prevents the fluid from flowing through the transmission cooler. The fluid overheats and cooks the trans. A P0740 code is common when the issue occurs.
Here's a good read on the issue...

It would be best to find out who rebuilt the transmission and what they did to prevent the same issue. Some 'rebuilders' only replace the worn parts without fixing the issue.
