If I am driving and I begin to slow down (it's manual so I shove it in manual when slowing down.) My rpms will drop smoothly from cruising rpm (2500 or so), then pause at 1000 and just stay there...then when I come to a complete stop they stop again to around 660.

Also on startup it will sometimes go from 0 to 800 to 1500, not just smoothly to 1500...

Any ideas appreciated.
