Default Honda auto's

Yes i have searched and yes i know honda auto's are weak. But this is going along another route.

I have been out of the honda world for about 7 years now and went over and played with the domestic cars. Currently have a 89 fox mustang with 300 shot running in the 8's. But back to my question.

I feel alot of power is being left on the table by not using auto's on the hondas. The torque convertor tech now is simply amazing and watched my car pick up .4 of a second by swapping convertors(still think i need a different stall). I know a couple companies played with the idea of a honda auto but i never saw ant of there results, good or bad. I know the honda transmissions are a different style then the rest of the automotive world hence the issues of building a decent auto. There also runs into an issue of controlling the trans but im not at that point yet. Im sure there are aftermarket transmission controllers i could use. I even thought of looking into rpm window switches to activate shift points(also known as a wiring and relay clusterfuck)

Now with that being said, are any companies currently working on an auto trans program(something that will last for more then 400 hp) or in one thread i read here, has anybody had any luck putting a different manufacturer auto trans in, like say a dsm(i think i read somebody toying with bolting up an ecotech transmission to a b block but never saw anything after it).

Just some ideas running through my head before i jump back into the honda world. I really would like to slap together another honda and go shut up some the local guys running around the area but it i think it will better and more fun to do it with an auto. Plus i suck at shifting!

Thank you and plus dont slam or flame me. Just ideas going through my head i was looking at trying, a road less traveled you could say.

Level10 is the only company I can think of that makes anything for Honda automatics. Expect to pay through the nose for it.

There really isn't much you can do with a Honda automatic to make it strong like you can with a typical planetary design. You also don't have the torque multiplication that comes with a planetary design.

You can't bolt any other trans to a Honda (unless it's a K-series or F20C) since they turn counterclockwise.

For what it's worth Honda makes some of the best manual transmissions out there bar none, along with some really crappy automatics. In the case of rear wheel drive domestics for the most part it's easier to build a strong automatic than a strong manual.

Pretty much this.

You could WPC treat the gears and shafts but I'm not sure that will go as far as you would need it to.

Good luck
