Car wont Start

Car wont Start
1998 Honda Civic DX Sedan, with a 1997 D16Y8 Engine
The sedan came stock with D16y7 But the motor was no good so we picked up a relatively cheap Y8 and its in but the car will crank and wont ever start what we replaced
We left the Y7 Intake/fuel injector and rails.
1.Battery
2.Plugs/wires
3.starter
4.Distributor
My thoughts : I seem to think its the ECU
Brothers Thoughts : Timing
