Sunroof from Si in DX?
I dont know if anyone would know this or not but I figured I would ask anyway...... Is it possible to put in an Si sunroof into a DX? Now I know that I would get some responses saying that yeah its possible anything is I suppose but what I am wondering is you know how the sunroof bolts into the Si by the like what I think 8? screws into the roof?? Now what I am wondering is if there is a place to bolt it to on the DX model that has no sunroof what so ever?? I would think that they would be there but that its just basically missing the whole but Im not sure anyone ever deal with this before? Or has anyone with a DX ever have their headliner out and noticed the bolt holes?

Yes it is possible. I just did the oppoiste for the race car. You will need the roof panel from Honda along with all of the guts(subassembly and headliner), wiring harnesses and switch. Will it cost a bunch-yes. The roof skin alone is over $300 retail new-and that is the best way to buy it. You probably will not find an Si being salvaged that will be worth the effort to graft the skin from. I do know where the parts from my car should be as I sold them to a friend-check the yards-the only new parts will be the rubber seals and maybe the sliding panel. Make sure the motor works too and you need to try to get the emergency key.
Meanwhile a the body shop-this is not DIY friendly-the stock roof spot welds are cut after taking out the windshield (if it breaks thats another $350). The hatch is also removed along with the headliner, etc. Then you can weld in the new skin panel and bolt the Si sunroof assembly in.
Plan to spend well over $1000 to do this conversion correctly. I paid a bunch to replace mine and that was bodywork charges, along with the replacement solid panel.

man they make aftermarket electric sunroofs you can buy for about 400 to 600 bucks.i think that would be a easier way out ,they make differernt sizes.and there easy to install.
No I was just wondering because I have a 91 Si parts car with a good sunroof and well roof for that matter....And I wasnt just talking about the support beams being the same I was wondering if there was actualy the mounting spots in the non sunroof roof. Are they the same but one has a whole?? I mean there are plenty of things that are different on the CRX's and all you have to do is add the part and thats it...I.E. the rear speakers, the fuel injector relay box, the pedals, the center clock....And I am sure there are many more.......

call your local window shop and see if they are able to do it without replacing the whole roof. I know with some cars (it might be this way with all cars) you can just cut the hole in the roof. I have taken my headliner off before and there is suport beams running down the car but if they are positioned the same in the si is not something I know. My friend is getting a 90 si in a week I will get him to take it off and compare the roof with my HF.
P.S. people sell the sunroofs all the time on ebay so either they are ripping their customers off or it is possible to just put the sunroof on your car.

The roof skin panels are NOT the same-there is a support brace that runs across the panel where the sunroof would be put. The panel is reinforced elsewhere with the sunroof unit, which is actually bolted to the upper structure of the car.

Wow this was really broughten from the past!! I have long given up on this project and sold both of my sunroof assmeblies that I had and also got rid of my parts car bodies.
Yes it is possible to add an aftermarket sunroof even an electric one. I went to Ziebart (place that does undercoating, detailing, tinit, also sunroofs) and talked to them and I can get all kinds of different sunroofs installed in my CRX. If I really wanted a sunroof I would go this way as its cheaper and a hell of a lot easier not having to worry about it yourself.
As for them leaking yes that is a very common sign affect to getting one put in aftermarket BUT those cheap pop-up ones are the one more tend to leak after time. I would go with a nice eletric glass top sunroof/moonroof if I was going to do it oh and I would also make sure that the place doing it would gaurantee their work.

yeah i try to research what i want to ask before i ask it and this so happen to meet and exceed exactly what i was looking for since i have a dx, and want a sunroof, ill figure it out, how much do you think on average a electric s/r m/r runs, just an estimate.
thanks guys for your help

Well taking a stab at it since its been a few years I would guess on the high side around like $500 or so to get the sunroof and have it installed. Now of course there are cheaper ones but the one I was looking at was around $450 installed a few years ago. And that one was an electric sunroof/moonroof so it did more than a stock Si's sunroof would do. It would go out the top and back like the Si's but it would also just bump up as well like one of those pop-up ones.
