OK, finally got the head off the 98 civic lx. When I checked the bottom of the head, there were only 2 dowel pins. Spent about an hour looking for the other two missing pins with no luck. Possibly they were left out last time the head was off but I wanted to make sure they didn't fall into the intake manifold or something stupid. Then I got to thinking, maybe there are only supposed to be two pins, not four. Someone help me out before I drive all over freaking town looking for two more dowel pins.

My d16y8 only had 2 and I'm pretty sure my b18c1 only had two also.

 

Yup just checked hondas parts catalog you only need 2 bud

 

Thanks, glad to hear I'm not missing any after all! Could have had her all buttoned up had I checked with you guys earlier. Sure looks like there's a place for four pins, but I checked the old head gasket and there were only two holes big enough, wish I'd have thought of doing that sooner.
