Squeaking belt when ac is on
First off, I did search for this topic and found a couple posts, but I did not find a clear answer.
There is something squeaking or chirping every time I have the ac on in my car while I am in idle and right after starting the car. It only does it when the ac is on. I am pretty sure it is a belt, but I have no clue which one. Anyone know what the problem is?
And please answer with the simplest terms. No jargon. I am in no way a car tech guy in any way. Thanks.

Either your belt is bad or it is loose. When looking at your engine, the Ac compressor is on the front of your engine, on the bottom right. If I remember correctly you have to take the power steering and alternator belt off first before you can get the AC belt off.
This does sound like a belt problem. They become glazed from heat as they get older and tend to squeek until they warm up. You can identify the belt by asking at one of the large parts stores. They'll be glad to come out and point it out to you.
This can be fixed by replacing the belt of course but there are several other things you can try. One would be to purchase a spray can of Belt Dressing and spray some on the belt. This tends to clean the belt and make it stickier stopping the squeek. It's not a permanent solution. Follow the can directions. You can also risk losing a finger by applying some sandpaper to the belt as it's running which has the effect of removing the glazed surface. If your finger gets caught between the belt and the pulley you really literally do stand to lose a finger and I would only suggest this if you think you have the room to get away with it.
The belt will eventually have to be replaced and a new one will last for years so really you may as well bite the bullet and have this small chore done for you at a shop.....in fact it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the main belt changed out too, and all the hoses and fittings checked for deterioration. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure....
