Dark Grey Smoke right after start up....
I drve a 1990 Accord EX. It has 157k on it. My parents are out of town for the week, so i am plagued and have you drive my brother to HS at 7:30AM!!!. Well his dumbass wakes me up like 5 mins before he has to get to school, so me nad his rush to the car. Its like 40 degrees outside at like 7:30am here in jersey this time of year, so the car is like all frosty and what not, and the engine sounds like a piece of **** when its cold. Well i scrap all the frost off that was blocking my vision and than i pull out of the driveway. When i hit the gas all i see is this dark grey smoke coming from my exhaust. IT continued to spew from the exhaust pipe when i pressed the accelerator but stopped after i drove away after about 20 seconds. What could be the cause of this??? It only happens when the car is cold. And it gives out a noticeable smell as well. Its a thicker smoke too because it does not float away in the air as easily, but that could be due in part that the colder air is more dense and so the smoke would not float away easy. But whatever. Why does my car smoke??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
nothing to really worry about, just make sure you either let the car warm up or don't gun it when its really cold. otherwise you will damage the engine, because the oil has warmed up enough to start working properly. take it easy on the car and it could last another 150.000.

make your brother ride the damn buss, or make him wait for your car to warm for at least 5 minutes. starting the car and driving off is not good at all.
Lettin your car sit there and warm-up for 5 minutes is non-sense. It's fine to start your car and drive right away, just do not get on it at all until warmed up to normal operating temperature, or you will shorten the life of your engine as listed above
