So my 98 awd is slipping pretty bad even after three flushes with honda atf. Im just trying to weigh my options here. I really dont want to spend 2-3k getting the trans rebuild and all of the usdm trannys used sell for 750-1000 dollars and they are high mileage. The jdms are always advertised as around 50k for mileage and can be had for about 500 but than you run into the CEL light issue.

Has anyone dug into what causes the code and if there is a work around? Can a jdm ecu be used?
