Hey, I hope this isn't considered spam, but I posted it on my frequented forum, 3si, and people were very interested. So yes, I am trying to build some more traffic for my powder coating guide, but I am hoping it is beneficial to all of the members here.
I started a guide on how to powder coat. Its aimed at the budget minded diy-er primarily so I hope you guys enjoy it.
If you guys do like it, please leave some comments on the page and let me know. I started it about 6 months ago but kind of abandoned it for awhile. I am getting back into it now though so you should see some new posts coming along every couple of days.
Thanks, please don't take this as spam.

Thanks, it will be updated with new posts to cover more powder coating topics. If anyone has a request for a topic or certain question, just let me know.
Does anyone here currently do powder coating themselves?
I'm surpised there is not more interest in this.

Reason: You don't need to keep bumping this thread. Let it die, if you have nothing else to contribute. Its close to being an ad. as-is.
If you want to do it, just go for it. If you looked at the site, then it seems like a lot of stuff to go through. But I just hopped into it. I ordered my $60 airless Craftsman powder coating gun. When it came in the mail, i drove down to harbor freight and bought some powder. Powder coated a scrap piece and stuck it in my grill for 10 minutes, lol. It actually came out great, my very first time coating.
Finally finished a new article on the site, long over due though. It should be a good read for anyone looking to purchase an air compressor in the future, whether its for powder coating or not. http://www.powdercoatguide.com/2013/...ompressor.html
I've been powder coating a little over a year now and its incredibly easy. Im using a kit from summit racing that has an air pump contained in the gun so you don't need a compressor but am considering a hotcoat system next. good work really like those gray colors your using.

Good powder guide also. Keep it up!
Thanks, I actually have the same gun as you, but it was labeled as Craftsman. Great little gun, I used it to learn how to powder coat and I still use it all the time. If you are thinking about an upgrade, you may want to just skip the eastwood guns and try out the EZ-50 powder coating gun.
The grey color is bonded black chrome with several different types of clears btw.
I was just on your site the other day. I have a HF PC gun and a sandblasting cabinet. Since my air isn't run out to the garage yet I haven't done any powder coating yet. Cant wait though. Good guide on where to buy powder too, that was critical to me
Definitely New here. I've been powder coating for 6 yrs now. It may seem easy and it is until things start going wrong for no apparent reasons. Then it's a nitemare. Some colors are more difficult than others. Convection heat is really the way to go for best results that can be duplicated.

When you get started, feel free to post up your pics. Also don't hesitate to ask any questions here if you run into any issues. Good luck!

That is the truth, when something doesn't come out right, it can be a PITA to track down what the issue was.
This is an excellent write up as it applies to everyone pc's. One thing that you may want to add (i couldve missed it also) are the affects of humidity. My shop is not climate controlled and there are times when the spray booth can turn into a giant snow globe.
