Default 08 fg2 turbo questions

I have an 08 fg2 si and im about to get a turbo kit. its the swift racing technologies cut kit. It comes with most of the stuff I need, fuel pump, stage 4 clutch, etc. i will have about 85,000 miles on my car and I know that im going to need some new internals for the turbo. Exactly what should I get redone? I know imma need new pistons but I dont know exactly what to get. Also, does anyone know any tuners near delaware. the SRT shop is 2 hours away but they want 2 grand to install and tune.

you can make 400whp easy with a good tune. if you have e85 you can shoot for 500whp.

im trying to make 450whp on 93 pump gas but im trying to see if i would need internals. they say that if your under 500hp then you're fine, but since I have a decent high mileage, i want to do my internals

85k is not high mileage. do compression and leakdown tests and if they come out good, boost away.

just to give you an idea of what these engines can do: https://honda-tech.com/forums/k-series-153/more-boost-stock-k20-697whp-close-enough-right-3144444/

now i dont recommend you try something like that, as D-Rob is one of the best tuners in the country.

i dont know exactly all the details but it is used to keep the turbo spooling to minimize the turbo lag like rally cars. doesn't it drop a little fuel causing the backfire. its bad for the exhaust cause of the high temperatures......thats all i know

Really? The dude put on stickers and installed speakers for a living and then decided to start "tuning". He's had more failures then successes so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

EXACTLY. Because the # of posts one has on a forum is in direct correlation with one's experience or intelligence... I think D slob is a swell guy, he just doesn't have the best track record with tuning. That place has turned out more problematic/blown-up cars than one can count. His pops gave him a place to play shop with his friends. Its cute really.

Hey I'm in Delaware too. Where are you located? I have a turbo FA5. You don't need internals. Flashpro doesn't have anti lag so if you really wanted it (you don't need it) you would have to do something custom and expensive. Flashpro has quick spool however, which is an excellent feature and helps the turbo spool as quick as it can, but will not let you build boost sitting still like anti lag. Also Vit from vittuned is an excellent tuner, you send him datalogs and he sends you revisions. Full tunes are $200, I would not have anyone else tune my car. Why not install the kit yourself and Dave a bunch of money? It really isn't that rough of an install.

I would rather see a car tuned on a dyno by a tuner than over the Internet....

To each their own, but my tune is excellent. Better than many dyno tunes.... But sure go spend more than 2x on a less than ideal tune :thumb:

I just want to point out that "stage 4 clutch" is a pretty meaningless term, as each brand will have different specs for what it calls "stage 4." Don't get hung up on what stage to get, and instead look for something that can handle the torque you're shooting for.

I completely agree with above statement. The exedy stage 1 is actually an excellent clutch for boost and dding.
