I'm about to make the trip down to florida to bring home my car and was curious if anyone had any experience with this.
The trailer is rated at 1500lbs and is a single axle. I'll be towing with a Lincoln Navigator which is rated at about 8500lbs. Taking into account the 80% rule I should be able to pull around 6500lbs no sweat at all.
The car is about 12.3 feet in lenth and 5.5 feet in width according to wikipedia and other sources. My car currently is missing the front bumper, drivetrain and most of the interior.
Theoretically this will work but I wanted to see if anyone has personally done this. I would rent a uhaul car hauler but I'm trying to avoid the $600 bill for that lol.

The trailer will most likely handle more than the rated load since most of the time things are under rated. It's up to you to try it or not.

It really sounds like it should work fine however there's always that "what if" factor. I just wanted to see if anyone had actually done this. I'll try it and let you guys know how it goes.
just rent the uhual dolly . its for FWD cars. and mounts the front tires on. rolling the rear ones. its cheaper and easier.
its the style people use with road trips on there RV's I asked off uhual told me 60$ to rent and 40$ deposit fee and will be returned once dolly is bad at a uhual location

I've hauled a CRX on a 6x12 utility trailer before; it was missing both bumpers and drivetrain. So they will fit; and weight should not be a problem.
It did just fine but it was only for a few miles but the trailer I was using was a two axle.

Yeah I know it'll work no problem. It's just the distance I'm worried about.
If you're concerned, get an IR temp gun from Harbor freight. Just check the hub and tire temps whenever you stop. If they get really high, you may want to stop or find a way to cool them off. You'll just have to do some test runs to establish a baseline.
A CRX without interior and engine should easily be within the weight limit of the trailer. If you are really concerned, get the trailer weighed empty, then load it up and weigh it again. You can get it weighed at a truck scale, the dump, a moving company, etc.

if youre not towing WITH the crx, and just towing an empty CRX shell with a Lincoln Navigator, is this really even a CRX question?
youre just asking for approval to overload your trailer.
yes, theres safety factors in the nominal ratings that you could reach the limit and still be "safe". but those safety factors are there because of the unaccountable factors that will probably be encountered in practical use.
such as idiots who think they can tow an oversized load on the trailer and ask a forum if that oversized load is acceptable...

I asked here because this is the crx forum. A forum in which there is technical information about the weight and length of a "crx". The question I'm asking involes knowing this information so technically yes it is a "crx" question.

No I'm not asking for approval. I'm simply asking for advice from my fellow enthusiatst. By the way "you're" missing something

What "impractical" use are you refering to? The trailer is made to carry heavy duty equipment up to 1500lbs and has a lenth of 12 feet and width of 6 feet. If my load meets all that criteria what is so "impractical" about that?

Again, what is oversized here? I was simply asking for advise for someone who may have towed like this before. There's no need to be a three year old and attempt to insult people. Your really just making yourself look like an idiot.

No it's not a Costco trailer. I didn't even know they sold those there.
