failed smog gross polluter HELP!
Hello i'm new to the forums i was hoping someone could help. I own a 93 honda civic stock its failed smog twice on the emission test it was a gross polluter. I'm going to post a pic of the smog report i was hoping someone could tell me what i need to do to pass smog .
Well post your emission numbers from the smog test. But mostly if it is the original exhaust system then you might have a bad cat!
I had the same problem and got a bolt on replacement cat from the parts store for like 180 ish dollars

Just "I just bought my car" mean you don't have it in your garage/driveway/outside your house? Go check to see if the CEL works. When you turn the key to ON(II), it should turn on for about 3 seconds, then turn off. If it doesn't, that means that either the bulb is dead, or the PO removed it.
The test says you failed, so yes, it looks bad.

Boy am I glad we don't have emissions testing here.. although I'd probably pass anyway at this point. What do you mean the exhaust is cut off? Does the car seem to run well or is something noticeably wrong? As mentioned, the cat comes to mind
So if I'm reading that sheet right, your HC at idle is high, but everything else is fine. Your car is idling at 900 RPM - that's high. Adjust your idle. There should be a write-up in the FAQ's sticky, or you can download a factory service manual.
The car runs good. The exhaust is cut passed the rear wheel everything seems fine to me and the cat is still there. Have come on the sheet it says the cat passes?
Here's what you do.
1. Do a Tune-Up (plugs, wires, cap/rotor, air/fuel filter, PCV valve) & oil change
2. Go test the car again.
It should be good after that. If the HC is still a little high at idle the second time around, pull your plugs out and gap them to 0.70" for the smog test only.
Once the test is over, gap them back to 0.44" and then go home and perform a leakdown test. If leakdown test results are good, go to a muffler shop and check your catalytic converter efficiency.
